How the hottest-cities ranking works
This list compares the latest observed temperature in every city we cover, from desert capitals like Phoenix and Dubai to tropical hubs like Bangkok. Remember that “hottest right now” depends on the time of day around the globe - afternoon peaks in one hemisphere line up with night in the other. For all-time extremes, see our guide to the hottest and coldest places on Earth.
