Florence, with its rich history and stunning architecture, also boasts a climate that's as varied as its art. I've dug into the monthly weather patterns, so let's break it down, season by season, shall we?
Starting with spring, March sees temperatures gently rising from cool to comfortably warm by May. This period is perfect for exploring without the bulk of heavy coats. Rain showers are sporadic, adding freshness to the air but never overstaying their welcome.
Come summer, June through August, Florence basks in warmth. July and August, in particular, get pretty hot, sometimes soaring above 30°C (86°F). These months are ideal for gelato lovers and those who don't mind a bit of a sweat while admiring the Duomo.
Autumn brings a palette change in both the scenery and temperature. September remains warm, but by November, you'll need a cozy sweater as evenings get crisp. Rainfall increases, giving the city a romantic mist that's perfect for café hopping.
Winter months, December to February, are the coolest, with temperatures often hovering around 10°C (50°F). Snow is rare, making city walks still enjoyable. It's the season of quiet streets, lit-up evenings, and hot chocolate by the Arno.
Florence's weather, much like its art, has a bit of everything. Whether basking in the summer sun or enjoying the quieter, cooler days of winter, there's always something magical in the air.
