May in Rome is absolutely magical. Flowers bloom, painting city streets in vibrant colors, and there's this fresh, lively vibe everywhere. Expect days filled with sunshine, but don't be fooled, early mornings and evenings can still carry a chill. Temperatures usually hover between 11°C (about 52°F) at night and 23°C (around 73°F) during the day. So, packing requires a bit of thought. I always recommend bringing layers. A light jacket or a cozy sweater is perfect for those cooler moments.

Rain? Yeah, it pops up now and then. Not often, but when it does, it's usually a quick shower. Having a compact umbrella or a waterproof jacket handy can save the day. Trust me, getting caught in a sudden downpour without one isn't fun.

For footwear, comfort is key. Rome's cobblestone streets are beautiful but can be unforgiving. Sturdy, comfortable shoes make exploring all those historic sites much more enjoyable.

Lastly, don't forget sunscreen. Even in May, the sun in Rome can be strong, especially when you're out sightseeing all day. A good SPF will protect your skin, letting you focus on the beauty around you without worry.
