Radiation Thermometers are not part of the
curriculum taught at any college or trade school, as far as we know, but most
manufacturers and some trade and professional associations offer periodic courses
at their annual meetings. The ISA,
SPIE and Sensors Magazine are three
such resources. In addition, there is educational information available from some
vendors of this equipment; even some over the Web. Needless to say,
the "bible" of this technology is the excellent book "Theory and
Practice of Radiation Thermometry" By D.P. DeWitt and Gene D. Nutter, Wiley
Interscience (New York), 1988. NIST
in the USA has run a course on Temperature Measurement by Radiation Thermometry
since June 1998. The contact at NIST is Dr. C. Johnson. In Canada,
The NRC also runs a course on Radiation Thermometry,
as do many of the National Metrology Institutes in other countres. |
